3 Lessons Learned from Day 5 of the 30 day Blog Challenge

Lessons Learned from Blogging Daily

Hello Everyone:

Hot off the press.  As many of you know that I signed up for the 30 day blog challenge on June 1st and been blogging for the past 5 days. My purpose for participating at this event was to enhance my writing skills and condition myself to blog on a consistant daily basis. Also to network and connect with other bloggers and form a tribe/community. Here are the 3 lessons that I learned so far.

1) Blogging takes time and the more you blog you begin to find your voice- I am having so much fun and trying to write from different perspective and viewpoints.

2) It takes time for traffic to come to your blog/site. Just because I think that I wrote a good article does not necessarily mean 500 people will come to my site to read the blog. Learning about using keyword search and putting those words in your article will help drive more traffic.

3) Reading and commenting on other people’s blog is another way to get more traffic to your site as well as connecting with other bloggers and cultivating realtionships. There are so many amazing bloggers filled with a slew of knowledge.

Want to share this enlightening story with you. More like going above and beyond the call of duty.

While visiting several blogs two days ago, I found Terrie Wurzbacher  and her blog post was on the  1st Featured Group of Bloggers.  At the time there were over 200+ bloggers involved in the challenge, I found her blog to be a wealth of information.  Her blog is a synopsis of 10 bloggers article. She went out of her way to copy and paste segments of the 10 articles and information to the bloggers sites. Imagine all the time and effort that it took for Terrie to review each blog. This provides us with a preview of some of 200+ bloggers. I wrote her a comment and the next day. Terrie was so sweet to post my blog post with 15 other bloggers- 2nd Featured Group of Bloggers. Today she posted the 3rd Featured Group of Bloggers  and she features 25 more bloggers.

This is the thumbnail of her blog. Click to get full size view.

    Jane,

This is a wonderful post. It helped remind me to “stop and smell the roses” so to speak. I too am participating in the blog challenge and I have found that I am so busy writing posts, reviewing posts and commenting on posts that I have not stopped to reflect on what I am learning.

And thank you for pointing out Terry’s posts. I was on Terry’s blog about day 1 or 2 and have not had a chance to make it back over there. I will definitely take a moment to pop over there and check out those summaries you mentioned. Such hard work deserves to be recognized :)

Terrie- You went above and beyond for the team at the 30 day Blog Challenge. Just want to share my appreciation for all the great things you are doing to connect over 200+ bloggers together. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack. You definitely are the Queen of Connections.

    Hi Jane,

I’ve been learning quite a bit too. I’ve been blogging on/off for several years, but never really monetized it.

It’s so true that the more you blog, the more you “find your voice”. I’m rediscovering that with my repurposed blog. I’m also having a lot of fun and keeping other people’s perspective and viewpoints in mind as I write.

I’ve also realized that I don’t need a bazillion people going to my blog to start having fun with it. A few connections to start meaningful conversations is all that it takes to start a chain reaction.

And rading and commenting on other people’s blog IS the most best way to cultivating realtionships. It’s amazing the people we can connect with that way!

Thanks for sharing Jane and I look forward to reading and learning more together.

    Best Regards,

    ~Henry~

I should change my title from Marketing and Sales Coach to Blogger. Who would imagine me a writer. LOL… Eventhough I actually started blogging in March which was sparse 1 blog and a couple more in April. The biggest impact occurred when I joined the 30 day blog challenge. Funny as a fellow Unified Tribe member- I was not posting many blog posts instead I love to read other people’s blog and syndicate their stuff.

I am so happy to hear that you are having a good experience with blogging and increase your frequency of posting blog posts, finding and sharing your voice with us and at the same time having fun. Look forward to your next blog post.

  6. Sue Henry says:

Keep up the good work, Jane. You are inspiring!

We’ve all heard about the importance of blogging, but Denise Wakeman really got my attention when she shared the states from the 2009 “State of the Blogosphere” with us in Raleigh. Of surveyed bloggers who blog at least 3 times weekly they reported:
    71% had increased visibility
63% of clients purchased product or services from blogger
56% are now regarded as a “thought leader”
40% are asked to speak at conferences

These stats beg the question: Why aren’t we ALL blogging everyday! :)

Great to hear from you Sue:
Thank you for the statistics that Denise shared with us from the Radiant Success Event. Great question why are we not all blogging everyday? Wonder if people really know the true benefits of blogging everyday.
