Blogging Frequency Does Matter

For the past several weeks, I wasted so much time trying to figure out and debating on what picture to post on the header of my website that I totally abandoned posting blog articles. What was I thinking? In fact, I took down one of the headers based on feedback from several business entrepreneurs and left the screen empty. There was nothing in the background except for a black screen. In fact, got an IM message from one of my blogging colleagues, who noted that my blog fell off the face of the earth.

Yes, this is a valuable learning experience for me. When we get distracted and do not consistently blog on a frequent basis several things tend to occur. Listed below are some of these lessons.

Blogging lessons learned

A) Followers will forget you and traffic will cease to exist

B) Consistency is key when it comes to blogging

C) Schedule your blog post if you are not able to write on a frequent basis

D) You are only as good as your last blog post

E) Data from google analytics have dropped by -31% for visitors

I will not abandon my blog ever again!

Share with us. What has been your experience with blogging consistently?

Coaches and Consultants–Are you fulfilling your purpose AND getting paid for it?

New Horizons Telesummit

If you’re a coach and/or consultant it’s likely you began your business because you have a need to make a difference. There’s also a good chance you would do what you do even if you didn’t get paid for it.

This is when you know your career is a great match for your passion; you love it so much you can’t help but do it.

However, in order to continue doing what you love and run it like a business you absolutely must get paid for your services.  The challenge for many coaches and consultants, especially those new to running a business is this; they either don’t know what to charge, when to charge or how to ask for the paid business. There seems to be an invisible line of comfort one crosses when money figures into the equation.

Anyone who is going to not only survive, but thrive in this industry, needs to establish from the beginning that they not only deserve to get paid, but paid well for services rendered.

There is never a lack of people who will gladly use your services and tell you what a difference you are making for them until you talk money. Then many of your greatest cheerleaders suddenly disappear leaving you to doubt your abilities and/or wonder why you ever thought giving your services away would somehow turn a free client into a paid client.

Unfortunately, many coaches and consultants are under the false impression that if they can just show how wonderful they are money will somehow jump from the free clients pockets into their bank account. Rarely is this the case.

Granted, there are occasions where it is acceptable to “showcase” what you do. But knowing where to draw the line is critical to building a thriving business.

From the beginning establish within your own mind that it is okay to charge. What you charge is based on a number of factors:

  • Uniqueness of what you offer
  • Skill set
  • Expertise
  • Track record of success
  • Experience
  • Market demand

As much as you know your clients need a coach and/or consultant to address specific areas, it is likely you would benefit from having a mentor who will guide you through the process of how to go from free to fee. The sooner you get on board with the “I deserve to be paid” mindset the sooner your business is to grow. The sooner your business grows the more you can live your passion and focus on what you do best – coach and consult.

Coaches and Consultants – Using Linked In to Attract Great Clients

If you’ve been using social media for any period of time you’ve heard about LinkedIn. Chances are you’ve put up a profile hoping to attract business.

Whether or not you’re getting the most out of LinkedIn may be open for discussion. The same holds true for virtually any social network. You may have an account and a profile, but are you getting the most out of your efforts?

Each social network has specific strategies you must implement in order to optimize what you are doing. With LinkedIn your profile plays a big role as to whether or not you are easy to find beyond someone simply imputing your name. Ideally when someone inputs keywords that are specific to what you do your profile is near (or at) the top.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for most people listed on LinkedIn. Only a fraction of active members are found based on keyword searches. Why? Because most experts are incredibly ambiguous in how they describe themselves, who their market is and what their background is.

Expertise
Although there are some profiles that are very detailed and specific to an area of expertise there are countless more that are not.

The one commonality in the majority of the profiles is an ambiguous identification of what the person does and who their target market is.

For example, in the coaching industry there are life coaches, business coaches, executive coaches, marketing consultant, etc. Although some may think this is enough of an identifier to attract the right type of client… it’s not.

The question that begs to be asked is, “What kind of Life Coach and for whom?” “Who are you a marketing consultant for? What industry and type of client?”

A life coach for recently divorced professional women is very different than a life coach for professional athletes. A marketing consultant for the equestrian industry is very different than one for the entertainment industry.

Ask most coaches and consultants what their major challenge in business is and they will likely answer, “Attracting enough of the right kind of clients.” The right kind of clients would be those you are a great match for and they are a great match for your expertise.

The solution… be clear on who you are and who your ideal client is.

To attract more than enough business you have to be much more specific about who you are and what makes you an expert.

Ambiguity won’t work. In the past it might have, but today there are far too many coaches and consultants for a client to choose from. This means the more specific you are the better.

Some may believe that by being too specific they are eliminating business. Actually, you are. But it’s likely the business that is a better fit for someone else rather than you.

When you are viewed as an expert for a specific market (or markets) you actually have an easier time attracting an abundance of clients for your practice/business AND you will attract more of the types of clients you want to work with.

If your business is not where you want it to be start with the basics:

  • Who am I? What is my expertise? What is unique about what I do?
  • Who do I enjoy working with? Who am I qualified to work with? Who do I want to work with?

             Consider this:

  • Is your profile clear and specific?
  • Will you stand out from the thousands of others who might be vying for the same business you are?
  • Will potential clients have an easy time finding you?

If you answered NO to the “consider this” questions rework your profile as soon as possible. To see what’s working for other experts do a profile search with the keywords your potential clients would use to find someone with your expertise.

Notice which experts rise to the top of a search. Review their profile. How have they positioned their expertise AND how does the description of the type of clients they work with read?

Reworking your profile is not something that should be put on the “someday I will do it” list. Do it immediately. After all, don’t you want to begin attracting more business immediately?

Niche Affiliate Marketing System 5- Course Review- 5+ Stars *****

NAMS5 & NAMS6

What is actually NAMS 5? NAMS stand for Niche Affiliate Marketing System. I had no idea what I was going to get myself into. Recently, I attended a virtual class which began from Friday till Sunday all day from 10AM- 5PM and the remainder of the week from Monday till Thursday classes were  from 7PM-9PM (January 14-January 20) . Was glued to my seat as I began to absorb everything. I am not an internet marketer and clueless when it comes to affiliate marketing. I am a business coach and my area of specialty is Marketing and Sales. Get me in front of a prospect, and I will seal and close the deal. Affiliate marketing is totally a whole new world.

Well, you are probably wondering what were the actual classes like and who were some of the presenters.  There were over 23+ instructors and each spoke for an hour or more. Here is a list of some of the featured instructors and the topic that they presented.

Lynn Terry- “Affiliate Marketing 101: From Start to Profit”

Chris Cobb- “Becoming an Online Action Taker”

Jeff Herring- “Secrets of Content Repurposing”

Maritza Parra- “Video Marketing Shortcuts”

Karon Thackston- “SEO Copywrighting: Strategic Ways to Write Natural Copy that Ranks High and & Sells Like Crazy”

Denise Wakeman- “The Secret to Business Blogging Success”

Ellen Britt- “Using Email Plus Social Media to Get Your Sales Pages Seen!”

Kathleen Gage- “Generate 6 Figures a Year with Continuity Programs”

Susanne Myers- “Free Traffic is all about the Links”

Scott Tousignant- Affiliate Marketing for Non-Internet Marketers

There is so much more…

Ratings

My ratings for this course is a 5+ Stars and what does this all mean? Remember how hotels are rated and ranked from 1 to 5. Decided to write reviews in this format. Here is my review.

Return on Investment

Where would one find a virtual class jam packed with valuable content that you can just start taking action to get results. Also to be a part of an accountability group and get training for the next 7-8 months and attend the live event in August to see the progress that everyone has made.

Community

A whole forum of members to connect with. You are not alone. Accountability groups are forming, so you can start your projects prior to attending the live NAMS6 event.

Virtual training

With NAMS 5, you get the virtual training with all the soup to nuts from beginner, intermediate and advance affiliate marketing.  I took so many notes and have to refer back to all the video recordings and slide deck presentations. These are the types of courses and class that I truly enjoy and benefit the most. By the way, this was not a pitch fest going on at all. Don’t you just hate when you attend a seminar or class and they try to sell you everything including the kitchen sink. This was not the case with NAMS.

18 Weekly Sessions

Revisit each of the instructors to further dive deeper into their areas of expertise. All of this begins the first week of February.

NAMS6

Look forward to attending the live event to meet other attendees from the NAMS5 virtual event and find out the progress they made with their projects.

With reviewing products and or services, one must be objective by providing the good, bad and the ugly. Here is one drawback and it’s not that ugly.

Drawbacks

Only one draw back- So much content was provided which was overwhelming and where does one begin. Help newbie here! My brain is on overload. So much materials coming all at once. David Perdew (He is the developer and creator of NAMS) advised it was alot of content given and that all the materials will begin to click once we start to take action and participate with the accountability group.

It’s not too late to sign up and attend NAMS6 live (August 2011) for $397.00. You can still get in on the NAMS6 workshop and the 26 weekly webinar training series until Aug. 10.

How often does one get an opportunity like this?  Here is the link http://budurl.com/NEMO

Let’s Talk about Sales-Audio Recording

Hello Everyone:

Attached is the latest recording from the Sales Success Mindset radio talk show. The topic is on Let’s Talk about Sales. Click here to access.

What is it about the word to sell, selling or sales that makes people cringe and feel uncomfortable. Half the time people do not even want to approach the sales realm with a 10 foot pole for fear of rejection and hearing the person on the other end say “No” to them. It’s just business!

My Blog Site is Getting a Face Lift? Check out these babies!

Hello Everyone:

It’s been 10 months that my blog site has had the same look and feel. Are you satisfied with the way your blog site looks? It’s about time to give my blog site a face lift or makeover. You are probably rolling on the floor laughing? No major work like plastic surgery or botox treatment required. In the coming weeks, you will notice visible changes to my blog. Have you consider giving your blog a face lift or a makeover?

You might be wondering. What do I mean by a facelift or makeover? Here are the 4 areas we are focusing on.

Header

When people stop by your blog, do they actually know what your site is all about? Can they identify you when they look at your header? What is the purpose of this blogsite? Should the header have photograph of the blogger/site owner?

My header has a picture of a butterfly. Does it have any significant meaning? Maybe to coaches cause it symbolizes transformation. The title listed is Imagine, Ignite, Implement and Grow your Business. Do people really know what that means? Is it to taking action to grow one’s business? What is your take on this?

Theme

I love using wordpress. There are so many free themes that one can choose from for your site. There are also premium themes that charges a fee because it has more added features.

Opt-in box

Do you have an opt-in box so readers and visitors to your blog can get on your mailing list if they want to get more information from you? I did not have this for the first three to four months. Was I missing the boat? I was just starting to blog. It’s never too late to put in an opt-in box. The key is to provide value and give your readers something that they can use.

Pages

Will be putting up more pages for my readers and followers to visit and stay a while instead of looking at my blog post and then exiting. For the longest time my site was just a one page blog. What’s up with that?

If you were giving your blog site a makeover or face lift which areas would you focus on?

Happy Blogging!
