Incoporating Animoto Videos on your Blog Posts?

Attached is a recent Animoto video that I put together on the launch of the “12 Steps to Celebrating Succes Progam”. Just wanted to share how easy it is to put a video together.

Are you incorportating videos in your blog post?  When I first started blogging, it was clip art and using personal photographs. I was so conscious about the way I looked on the camera that I did not produce any personal videos for a while. I like to use Animoto. What is so great about this service is that it is so simple to use. Just upload the your own pictures from your computer or pick the ones available on the Animoto site. Pick from their music selection or upload your own music from your computer.

By adding videos, your blog takes a whole new life form of it’s own. Don’t get me wrong. Pictures do say a 1,000 words. But whose counting. It’s as simple as 1,2,3 when using Animoto. Found out about Animoto through Lou Bortone.

Animoto has a free version where you can make an unlimited amount of 30 second videos. There is a paid version that costs only $30 for the whole year and you can make as many full-length videos and as long as you want. For more information click on the Animoto button below or for the link click here

Happy Anniversary! Our Blog is One Year Wiser.

Happy Anniversary!

It’s party time. Congratulations! My blogsite is celebrating it’s first year anniversary. We certainly have come a long way since last year. The purpose and intention of having this blog/website was to get into the habit of writing and to share my experiences of being an entrepreneur after leaving corporate america. You could say this was test-lab. Major learning curve and experience to find out what types of articles resonnate with our readers and followers.

Learned several lessons after having a blog for 1 year. This blog/site anniversary is March 21. Baby you certainly have come a long way! Happy Birthday! May you continue to grow to your full potential in the years to come.

A) Blogging takes time as well as diverting traffic to one’s site.

B) If you think you are going to get rich overnight, better think again.

C) Pump up the volume by accentuating your blog with videos, audios, interviews, guest blog posts, etc. Your readers will thank you for it.

D) If you drop-off the face off the earth by falling off the wagon, your readers are so compassionate for they will come back. Always provide content that will be a resource and leads for your readers.

E) Make sure you participate in blog challenges, blogging communities for there you will meet your neighbors and many new found friends.

F) No matter what happens, do not give up on your blog. For one voice will be lost in the crowd and become another statistic of those who started a blog and just vanished.

G) Blogging is a great marketing tool to grow your business.

A big thank you to all my readers and follower for your patience and your continued support.

Blogging Frequency Does Matter

For the past several weeks, I wasted so much time trying to figure out and debating on what picture to post on the header of my website that I totally abandoned posting blog articles. What was I thinking? In fact, I took down one of the headers based on feedback from several business entrepreneurs and left the screen empty. There was nothing in the background except for a black screen. In fact, got an IM message from one of my blogging colleagues, who noted that my blog fell off the face of the earth.

Yes, this is a valuable learning experience for me. When we get distracted and do not consistently blog on a frequent basis several things tend to occur. Listed below are some of these lessons.

Blogging lessons learned

A) Followers will forget you and traffic will cease to exist

B) Consistency is key when it comes to blogging

C) Schedule your blog post if you are not able to write on a frequent basis

D) You are only as good as your last blog post

E) Data from google analytics have dropped by -31% for visitors

I will not abandon my blog ever again!

My Blog Site is Getting a Face Lift? Check out these babies!

Hello Everyone:

It’s been 10 months that my blog site has had the same look and feel. Are you satisfied with the way your blog site looks? It’s about time to give my blog site a face lift or makeover. You are probably rolling on the floor laughing? No major work like plastic surgery or botox treatment required. In the coming weeks, you will notice visible changes to my blog. Have you consider giving your blog a face lift or a makeover?

You might be wondering. What do I mean by a facelift or makeover? Here are the 4 areas we are focusing on.

Header

When people stop by your blog, do they actually know what your site is all about? Can they identify you when they look at your header? What is the purpose of this blogsite? Should the header have photograph of the blogger/site owner?

My header has a picture of a butterfly. Does it have any significant meaning? Maybe to coaches cause it symbolizes transformation. The title listed is Imagine, Ignite, Implement and Grow your Business. Do people really know what that means? Is it to taking action to grow one’s business? What is your take on this?

Theme

I love using wordpress. There are so many free themes that one can choose from for your site. There are also premium themes that charges a fee because it has more added features.

Opt-in box

Do you have an opt-in box so readers and visitors to your blog can get on your mailing list if they want to get more information from you? I did not have this for the first three to four months. Was I missing the boat? I was just starting to blog. It’s never too late to put in an opt-in box. The key is to provide value and give your readers something that they can use.

Pages

Will be putting up more pages for my readers and followers to visit and stay a while instead of looking at my blog post and then exiting. For the longest time my site was just a one page blog. What’s up with that?

If you were giving your blog site a makeover or face lift which areas would you focus on?

5 Tips to Keeping the Momentum with an Ultimate Blog Challenge?

/

Hello Everyone:

I signed up for this month’s Ultimate Blog Challenge. You are probably wondering if these challenges really make an impact? The answer is yes. Participating in a 31 day blog challenge is not easy when you are not crazy about writing, procrastinate, go away for vacation, etc…

Listed below are 5 tips that will assist with keeping the momentum flowing.

1) Scheduling your blog post

If you are a sporadic writer like myself or not crazy about writing everyday, then consider the option of scheduling them. Write a bunch of blog post and time them out.

2) Blogging Buddy

Learned this from Denise Wakeman from the Blog Squad. Connect with a couple of bloggers and form a buddy system. You hold one another accountable and check up on one another. This is a great way to make new friends and have a core group supporting one another.

3) Law of Reciprocity

What is law of reciprocity? If you help others, they in turn will do the same. When you post comments on someone else’s blog, the blogger will want to respond as well as others reading the blog. They will want to know more about you and visit your site. So go ahead and post valuable comments and tweet other people’s blog post. You will have an increase with traffic to your site. Talk about gaining visibility and getting noticed. That’s what I call win-win!

4) Pace yourself and enjoy the process

Do not stress yourself out by applying more pressure. That’s what happened to me. I was only able to complete the 30 day/7 day mini challenge because it was the first time and I did not know what to expect. It was all down hill after signing up for the next two. Was it the pressure of forcing oneself to blog regularly? Yes, pretty much and I no longer was interested in the process. My brain was fried.

5) What is your Purpose?

Ask yourself these questions. What is my purpose for joining a blog challenge or any challenge for that matter? Why do I want to do this? By checking your level of motivation, this will give you an indication of your interest and desire to complete a blog challenge or any other challenge.

Share with us what are some of your tips to keeping the momentum going with a blog challenge/challenge?

Happy blogging!

Jane asked me to put together this post for her readers after I submitted my recent post to the Continuity Blogging Community Facebook page. In my post I talked about the tips I took away from #blogchat on Twitter. Jane visited my blog and asked me to write a little article to explain what a Twitter chat is and how to take part in one.

So without further adieu let me share with you this gem for your blog and your business.

As Twitter has evolved there has come about a chat interface called http://tweetchat.com/ where people can have a room to chat about a common interest such as #blogchat. The way it works is you go to the tweetchat site, sign in with your twitter ID and then enter the hashtag you want to chat with others about, hit enter and it takes you into a twitter style chat interface. For first time users you will have to authorize TweetChat to access your Twitter account once you accept you will never be asked again.

Here is a screen shot of what it looks on my end before entering the chat.

 Once inside

Depending on the amount of folks in the stream it can be hard to keep up if you have it set at anything less than 10. This past week I had to set it to 20 just to keep up.

Blogchat is a good chat to get involved in as it allows you to be with others who are doing the same thing you and it also allows fellow bloggers to learn from each other. Let’s face it sometimes blogging can be a very introverted task and we all need to learn how to break free from that bubble ever so often. I know I do. I am a self professed introvert and have to force myself to interact with others around me just to get out of my own head space for a bit. Otherwise I would probably blog 24/7.

Also there is an immense amount of resources to be shared within this chat. At the end there is a transcript provided and also a way to share your favorite tips  from the chat. The host usually posts the link to the transcript for us. The transcript and FavTips is an excellent way to capture those kernels of information for future reference. You can print both off and go through with a highlighter and add the information that stands out to you in your business notebook if you keep one and well if you don’t keep one you should. But I digress and that is a whole other topic to write about.

How Consistently are you Blogging?

Hello Everyone:

How consistent are you with blogging?

Here are the five lessons learned since participating with several 30 day blog challenges.

Frequency

1) Frequency is key. Since participating in my first 30 day blog challenge and 3 consecutive ones. The realization that being consistent is critical. Your readers want to hear from you on a regular basis. It is the ”Out of sight and out of mind” factor. When you look at the snapshot of my blog via google analytics, it demonstrates that frequency with blogging is very important. Put your blog on a schedule/calendar if you have to. This will payoff in the long run.

Tracking Data

2) Use google analytics to tract the latest trends and activities of your blog. I have attached a weekly one for your review. From looking at this chart, blogging frequently keeps readers coming back for more. As one can see there are heavy dips. Now, why is that? The reason is there were no blog post written for those days. Being consistent is key, whether you blog daily, twice or three times a week. You already have followers and visitors you may not even know about. Yes, I am a sporadic or an erractic blogger. With puttting my blogs on a schedule and take the time to give some love and attention to my blog, I will be able to get back on track instead of falling behind.

Blogging is not a Chore

3) Have fun with compiling your blog post. Sometimes it feels like a chore to blog everyday and trying to come up with spectacular content. Blogging shoud not be a chore, but a service to your readers. Mix it up a little by putting a video, audio, pictures, etc…

It’s Blogging Time!

4) Make the time just for blogging. Schedule 1/2 and hour or 20 minutes a day just to spend quality time with your blog. After 21 days, this becomes a habit. That’s why there are so many challenges out there. Consistent action will become a daily ritual. Try it out and let me know how it works.

Comments Anyone?

5) Ask for comments and feedback from your readers. This not only create more of an up close and personal connection between the reader and you. When readers provide comments. the blogger gets to see what content the readers want to hear more about.
