Why did you become an Entrepreneur?
Hi Everyone:
Have you ever had days when you just want to throw in the towel and just give up? It is not easy being an entrepreneur or a small home based business. Running your own business takes time, money and hard work. Some of us become an entrepreneur with the mindset that we will make a lot of money in a short amount of time. Statistics have shown that many business within the first five years do not survive.
Having a can do attitude, the determination, and being driven is key. Yes, there will be days or weeks of no income and bills have to be paid. But do not give up or get discouraged.
As a solo entrepreneur and small business owner did you remember what it was that made you decide to start your own business.
Reason that Made You an Entrepreneur
Do any one of these resonnate with you or strike a cord?
1) You got laid off and not sure if you want to go back into the same industry or just want to start your own business.
2) Quit your job because of a higher calling. There was something missing in your life.
3) You just did not fit in with the corporate culture or company. You are a creative visionary, an out of the box thinker, and enjoy doing things another way.
4) Mid-life changes. Wanted to try something different.
5) Want to make money online. Everyone is on the internet. So, why not me?
6) Service is not available and you create a product/service that is going to make people feel better and the world a better place to live.

Jane,
Numbers 2 through 5 describe why I came online at the end of 2005. The first year I made almost no money, but soon I connected with a wonderful coaching program and now I am living the life of my dreams.
It is wonderful to connect with you because of the blog challenge. I look forward to learning more about you and what you are doing to help others with their businesses.

Thank you for visiting my blog and sharing your experience with us. Great to hear that you connected with a coaching program and you are living the life of your dreams.
Number 2 applies to my scenario. Left corporate and want to teach others how to market and sell authentically and grow their business. Many people are very uncomfortable with selling to others. Look forward to connecting with you further. Have a good weekend.
Reason five most applies to my situation. I also believe I’m capable and have a specific skill set to offer. I’m focusing on building content right now; I’m not sure how I’ll be monetizing.

You are capable of anything you put your mind to it. Look forward to seeing your content continue to grow. I am on the same boat. Right now, I am paddling and will get that motor built in and turn that boat into a speed boat. Thank you for sharing.
My reason for becoming an entrepreneur is a little different. I had been a stay at home wife on our little hobby horse farm for over 15 years but then my husband became ill and was diagnosed with kidney disease. He was forced to retire early and I needed to go back to work because the medical bills quickly depleted our retirement savings.
I feel so blessed that the Internet allowed me the opportunity to follow my passion with the Internet and create my own business as a Social Media Specialist.
There is no better time in history to become an entrepreneur!

Hi Jane. My reason for starting my own business was number 1. The ony thing was I was laid off because of health issues. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and it is so hard to keep a job with the time I am out sick. I started a Mary Kay business and also have my own web design business. Right now, it is hard for me to stay motivated and keep going. I am trying but when you have those bad days or weeks, it hard to get out of that lag. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Michele:
Thank you for sharing your experience of how you became an entrepreneur. Congratulations on starting your businesses- Web design & Mary Kay. All the best on growing your business.
I totally hear you Michele. So important to have a support team that is there for you and vice versa. It’s not easy being a solo entrepreneur and working from home.
That is awful to hear that you got laid off because you have Fibromyalgia. It’s a chronic and commplex syndrome. Are you involved in a Fibromyalgia support group? Have you looked at the National Fibromyalgia Assoication. They have lots of resources.
